Rogue Touch App Reviews

a good port of rogue for the iPhone. The controls are simplified, although there wasnt any tutorial for it in the beginning. Not sure if this is that much better than the other (free) rogue ports in the app store, though. Gameplay remains challenging and addictive like the original rogue for *nix.

A challenging, enjoyable roguelike that posesses simpler controls than others like iNethack, yet still has that adventuriffic feel. Worth your $3 and your time.

As a die-hard fan of Diablo, I find myself utterly loving this little gem of a game. Every wannabe dungeon crawler MUST own this game.

You get only one save game(???) and if you die at any time your character is gone and you have to start all over again. You would have to be unbelievably lucky to beat the game with this setup. Not recommended.

For anyone who is actually familiar with Rogue (or any of its variants), Then you should feel right at home here. Youll also understand the concept of permadeath — which means once you die, youre dead! The play is streamlined for the touch interface, with additional options such as "shoot" or "descend stairs" appearing in a little tap menu when available (i.e., when your on the stairs). The graphic tiles are well done too, but I really wish there was an option to choose the classic ASCII graphics, then it would be five stars!

This is an excellent must have app. Very well done.

Control is simple and easy to learn. Graphics are great and its just as addicting as a dungeon crawler should be. Rogue was a childhood fav before games like diablo, BG, and dungeon siege.

Its funny how I always die of starvation an average of twice every 4-5 games!! Too bad I couldnt eat the gold because there seems to be endless amounts of this useless stuff. Seriously, how about adding some kind of store so we can trade in stuff like the bow and arrows for something we can use?? We can buy food there as well! I grow tired of fainting all the time. And why is it that sometimes I can last 3-4 levels without eating and other times I eats 3-4 times PER level?? Other than that I have no issues. The game is great for a basic dungeon game.

... And its STILL easily the best dungeon crawler experience on the iOS. What it lack in presentation, it more than makes up for it in gameplay. This is one of these games where you can think of a lot of improvements yet, at the same time, the game is so good that it still holds on it own without these improvements. This directly competes with the so called "AAA" titles on the iOS. The Dungeon Hunter series, while solid dungeon crawler games in their own right, have NOTHING on Rogue Touch. Why isnt there any more games like this? Its scary to think what a game like Rogue Touch can do with a bit more polish and a fancier presentation. It wouldve lost a star for the awkward interface but, because its still very functional, I cant bring myself to rate it any less than the best rating.

Its good Ill give it that. But kinda dead. I mean no music no huge numbers representing damage. No skills or different types of rogues. Also the blackness really doesnt help much either. It just makes it more dull. However it is very addictive and considering this is a remake its great. But if you want it to stand proud please add maybe 1 or 2 things listed above. Rating 85/100

I enjoyed it but i prefer sword of Fargoal and 100 rouges more. Still fun though

Had this app for a long time. The latest iOS update has thrown an issue with the app so it runs all slow and studdery. Would be nice if the developer would update the app. Would give it 4.5 stars if it wasnt for this bug.

well, i debated on purchasing this for more than a week and finally got it today. i was first introduced to roguelikes a few years ago, and really enjoy them. so when i saw this i thought it would be the best most complete version. actually, the truth is, its watered down. it seems like they took the rogue formula and stripped it down to just the basics. while this is good for some new players, for those who have played before, its dissapointing. i thought that there would be at least an option to pick your characters class, but no, there are no options, there arent even any options to pray, kick, etc.. i mean i understand if you want to appeal to a new audience, but you should let the customers know what options are and are not available. i for one want character selection, and maybe and option to change tilesets, but at least character creation/customization. for 2.99 you should give us more than a watered down port. if youre looking for a good roguelike with a bit more depth, i recommend 100 rogues or inethack (which is free). sadly i cant really recommend this one because i dont feel that its that good, also it misinforms the customers. so i hope that, in the future this version with be more worth $3 and that if anyone is considering making the purchase, they read my review first, cuz nowhere does it say in the description of the app, just how feature light this game is.

I used to play the original letter graphics Rogue back in the late 90s and really enjoyed it. This version is an upgrade to that great original with actual graphics, updated content, and additional characters unlocked by the name you choose. The additional characters keep the game interesting and the replay value really high. Out of all the adventure type games on my phone I play this one the most, but I am a gamer that has seen the entire evolution of the computer gaming industry from the early Atari consoles, so to someone who grew up after the bigger consoles came out you might not be as impressed. For old original Rogue players this is a MUST OWN! My thanks to the developer!

This is more of a response to some negative posts...several reviewers have stated a desire for a more in depth Rogue. They have even gone so far as to say that this is a dumbed down version. Poppycock! Balderdash! Malarky! If anything, it is a more streamlined and updated, user friendly port of the original. THE ORIGINAL. The Rogue that had little more than symbols on a screen and a killer intro screen (for the time) that I still dont know what creature it is. This app is true to its roots. Take it from someone who still keeps a DOS system working so he can play his 5 1/4 inch floppy version of Rogue from 1984 (go tandy1000!!) because I STILL havent beaten it on the original...(grumblegrumble) Point of my ramblings...know what youre looking for before you gripe. Understand your expectations. This is a wonderful app and hours upon hours of fun.

Please add option to use virtual dpad the current touch controls dont work so well.

Please update, add more weapons, monsters, spells. (and cheats:))

Awesome remake of the original. Couldnt ask for a better rogue like rouge!

Its an amazing game, but every time I loot a corpse the game crashes and reverts to the last time the game saved.
